Biography

2008: Second Team All-OVC… After sitting out the first three games of the season, Coppert started the final 43 games of the year at second base… batted third in the lineup in each of those games… ranked second on the team in batting average, hits, RBIs and stolen bases… led the team with 11 sacrifice hits, including six sac bunts… became just the third player in EIU’s OVC era (1997-present) to register 20 RBIs, runs scored and stolen bases in a season… one of two Panthers that walked more than she struck out… was part of more double plays (9) than errors (6)… was 14-for-17 on stolen base attempts in OVC play… reached base safely to begin an inning a team-best 67 percent of the time (18-of-27)… batted .310 and collected seven RBIs with two outs… reached on an error a team-high 10 times… batted .400 with nine RBIs at home… hit a big three-run homer in the win against Southern Illinois, one of only five homers at Williams Field… batted .393 (11-for-28) in 10 neutral-site games… thanks to a 9-for-26 showing during spring break, led the team with a .365 average and 16 RBIs in March, collecting all five of her sac flies that month… was 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts in May… hit safely in both OVC Tournament games to extend her hitting streak in OVC Tourney play to six (every game she has played in)… hit safely in five straight games in early March, scoring three times in the first and final games of the streak… knocked in a run with a sacrifice in four straight games in March, plating the game-winning run in the home opener with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning… posted the first five-RBI game by a Panther since 2005 in the SIU win, ending the game with a two-run double to bring the eight-run rule into effect… scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the 10th inning at UT Martin… collected two hits in three straight games in mid-April… hit a three-run homer in the series-opening win at Jacksonville State… went 3-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and three stolen bases in the game two win against Eastern Kentucky… National Rankings: seventh in sacrifice flies and 21st in stolen bases… Top 10 OVC Rankings: second in stolen bases... EIU Single-Season Rankings: sixth in stolen bases… EIU All-Time Rankings: fourth in stolen bases, fifth in doubles, and 10th in runs scored.

2007: Holiday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival All-Tournament Team… She started all 54 games at second base, the only Panther to start every game at the same position… led the team in batting average, runs, hits, doubles, multi-hit games and two-out RBIs… committed just six errors in 207 chances… collected nine of her 17 doubles in OVC play, a league-leading total… ranked 21st nationally in doubles per game… posted a .990 fielding percentage in conference contests after committing just one error… ranked as one of the team’s top situational hitters: .308 with runners on, 4-for-5 with the bases loaded, .292 with RISP, .315 with two outs… collected 13 of her 19 RBIs with a two outs… reached base 42 percent of the time when leading off an inning… batted leadoff in a team-high 34 games, including 22 of the 25 OVC contests… batted a team-high .368 at Williams Field, scoring half of her 34 runs in the 20 home games… did not commit an error in a true road game… led the Panther attack in EIU victories, batting .410 with 12 RBIs and 24 runs scored… collected eight of her doubles while batting .304 in April… posted a squad-best .417 average and scored 14 times in post-spring break midweek action… went 7-for-20 with four doubles and four RBIs at the Tulsa Festival to earn All-Tournament Team honors for the second year in a row… hit her first career home run in the victory at IUPUI… recorded a pair of doubles in a game five times, including in back-to-back wins over Austin Peay and Illinois State… connected for a two-run, walk-off double to cap the four-run, last-at-bat rally versus Ball State… registered three RBIs three times… scored three times in both big wins over Illinois and Illinois State… delivered a clutch two-out, two-run single in the series final at Samford… reached base in seven of her eight plate appearances in doubleheader sweep of Southeast Missouri… recorded the team’s lone triple of the season in the rubber-game win against Tennessee State… 17 multi-hit games, five multi-RBI efforts… OVC Top 10 Rankings: second in doubles… EIU Single-Season Rankings: third in doubles, eighth in at-bats and 10th in runs.

2006: OVC All-Tournament TeamHoliday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival All-Tournament TeamIndiana State Wolfe Sycamore Classic All-Tournament Team… Played in 58 games and started 52 times, primarily at second base… batted first (20 times) or second (25) in the lineup much of the year… was the only Panther to hit safely in all four games at the OVC Tournament… scored the game-winning run on a passed ball in EIU’s comeback win over Eastern Kentucky at the OVC Tourney… the following day she knocked in the go-ahead run with an eighth-inning base hit against Jacksonville State… led the team in walks while also ranking as the top EIU freshman in batting average, doubles, RBIs and runs scored… was part of a team-high 11 double plays turned… batted .385 with a team-high four runs scored to earn all-tourney team honors at the Holiday Inn Select-Tulsa Festival… at Indiana State’s Wolfe Sycamore Classic was 4-for-14 at the plate with three RBIs, three walks and a team-high six runs scored… batted .320 with five RBIs and six runs scored during the nine-game winning streak… enjoyed her finest months in February (.296, 7 runs) and May (.273)… batted .297 and committed just one error at home… above average situational statistics: .283 with runners on, .278 with RISP… was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two runs and two walks in the win over St. Mary’s… delivered a pinch-hit, two-run triple in the home-opening doubleheader versus IUPUI… collected RBI doubles in wins against Louisiana-Monroe, Bradley, Tennessee State and Austin Peay… posted five of her nine multi-hit games in OVC play… also collected a pair of multi-RBI games.

HIGH SCHOOL: Sarah was a four-year letter-winner for coach Dennis Hansen... also lettered in basketball and volleyball… four-time All-Western Sun Conference and all-area selection... three-time Illinois High School Coaches Association All-State selection, twice (‘03 and ‘05) second team as a second baseman and third team as a shortstop in 2002… team captain sophomore and senior years… KHS was a three-time regional champ and also won sectionals in 2003… played for the Aurora Raiders summer league team.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was winning sectionals at KHS… her father has been a major influence on her sports career because "he always pushes me to do my best"… most admires her former coach Robin Voss because "he was an all-star at men’s fastpitch, is in the Canadian Hall of Fame and is an amazing coach"… her brother Kevin was a member of the track and field team at Lewis University… daughter of Dave and Kathy CoppertMAJOR: Accounting.
