Biography
SOPHOMORE (2008-09): Carpenter played in three games – the Savannah State, Mississippi Valley State and Eastern Kentucky home contests… attempted a field goal and got to the free throw line against MVSU… had an offensive rebound in each of the first two games she played.
FRESHMAN (2007-08): Carpenter played in three games… after not seeing action until the 15th game of the season, made the most of her collegiate debut, connecting on a jumper in the final minute of the win at Austin Peay… played a season-high 14 minutes in the win against Illinois Tech, making 2-of-3 field goals attempts and rallying the home crowd behind her… had a pair of rebounds and an assist in that win as well… also saw action in the home win against Austin Peay, recording an assist in the final two minutes.
HIGH SCHOOL: Carpenter was a four-year letter-winner for coach Steve Harper… also lettered three times in volleyball and once in softball and track… two-time All-Mid State 6 Conference honoree as an upperclassman… also a team captain as an upperclassman… her team won the Mid-State 6 her sophomore and junior seasons… all-area as a junior… also a two-time all-conference honoree in volleyball… team captain and an all-area performer in volleyball as a senior… also played for the Central Illinois Girls Basketball AAU team… National Guard Scholar Athlete… National Honor Society… sterling merit award winner… ranked in the Top 10 in her class.
PERSONAL: Her mother has been a major influence on her sports career because “no matter what she’ll always be there for me and at my games cheering me on”… most admires Coach Harper because “he always believed in me, even when I wasn’t at my best”… enjoys playing volleyball, scrapbooking and reading... daughter of Sonya Gude… MAJOR: Biological Sciences.
