Biography

SENIOR (2009-10): OVC Comissioner's Honor Roll... Sturtevant played in 17 games and started the Senior Day win against Tennessee State… finished with more assists than turnovers for the season and for her EIU career… scored a season-high six points on 3-of-5 shooting from the field to go along with three assists in the win against Brescia… logged 11 minutes in the home win against Jacksonville State and road win at SIU Edwardsville… had three assists in the home win against UT Martin, helping the EIU bench score 40 points… saw action in three of the four postseason games, connecting on a pair of free throws in the WNIT game at Marquette.

JUNIOR (2008-09): OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... Sturtevant played in 25 games… logged a season-high 27 minutes at Bradley… also played 20 minutes in the season-opening win against Miami (Ohio)… logged double-figure minutes in three straight games during the December homestand… scored a season-high six points in the IPFW win, connecting on her only field goal attempt and 4-of-4 at the free throw line… played some key minutes in a number of February games after the injury to Ashley Thomas… was the first Panther besides Rachel Galligan to score in the second half of the home win against Austin Peay… played 15 minutes in the rematch with APSU in Clarksville, a season-high total in OVC play… was 6-of-7 at the free throw line in home games.
 
SOPHOMORE (2007-08): OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... she played in all 32 games… scored a season-high six points in the wins at Tennessee State (on 3-of-5 shooting) and versus Illinois Tech… went 5-of-6 at the free throw line in close games against Eastern Kentucky and Jacksonville State at home, both EIU wins… connected on three of those free throws against EKU in overtime… led the team in free throw percentage after connecting on 21-of-24 at the stripe… made four of her five 3-pointers in road games… recorded four points, four assists and no turnovers in 18 minutes in the loss to Illinois State... also had four assists in 18 minutes in the home win against Austin Peay… logged 22 minutes in the wins at Morehead State and versus Eastern Kentucky… played a career-high 29 minutes against Illinois Tech, registering personal-bests for rebounds (6) and blocked shots (3).
 
FRESHMAN (2006-07): OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... she played in 27 games… led the team in assist-to-turnover ratio (41/29, 1.4)… posted season-highs in points (9), assists (6) and steals (5) in the win over Illinois-Springfield… played 24 minutes in the road loss at Eastern Kentucky, scoring eight points to go along with five assists… also tallied five dimes in the comeback win at home over EKU… scored all six of her points in the second half in the victory at Jacksonville State… scored six points on a pair of 3-pointers to go along with four assists in 20 minutes at nationally-ranked Louisville… all three of her made 3-pointers came in road games… began her career 10-of-11 at the free throw line… collected nine of her 11 steals at home… took good care of the ball on the road (23 assists, 14 turnovers)… had twice as many assists (13) as turnovers (6) in January.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Lauren was a four-year letter-winner for coach Linda Bamrick… also lettered twice in soccer… team captain as an upperclassman, surpassing the 1,000 career points plateau her senior year… 2006 Indianapolis Star City Player of the Year… 2006 Jermaine O’Neal Super Shootout Committee Female City Player of the Year… Hoosier Basketball Magazine honors: Top 40 participant as a senior and two-time (2004-05) honorable mention all-state… 2006 Indiana Coaches of Girls’ Sports Association academic all-state honorable mention… 2006 Indianapolis Star second team all-north… Marion County Coaches of Girls’ Sports 2006 all-city tournament team… two-time Indianapolis City Tournament all-tournament team… 2006 Twin Lakes all-tournament team… team MVP and Amy Hasbrook award recipient as a senior… ICHS was Indianapolis City and East Noble Classic champions her sophomore and junior years… 4A Sectional 10 champions as a junior… 2005 The Family (AAU Team) was 2005 USJN Las Vegas champs… Nike National Champions… USJN Fishers champs… four-year high honor roll student and Cathedral Scholar… National Honor Society… academic honors diploma… besides The Family, also played for Mohr Magic, The Rebels and Indiana’s Finest club/AAU teams.
 
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was hitting the game-winning shot in the sectional finals her junior year of high school… her father has been a major influence on her sports career because “he coached me when I was younger and he has been there to support me and help me ever since”… most admires Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever because “she always works hard and leads her team in points, rebounds, assists and steals; she’s a leader, makes the hustle plays and is still humble about her achievements”… her sisters Allison and Darby played basketball at the University of Indianapolis and Indiana-South Bend, respectively… daughter of Wayne and Jeannie SturtevantMAJOR: Biological Sciences/Pre-Med.
