Biography

SENIOR (2008-09): Edwards started all 33 games, one of only two Panthers do so… established a new career free throw percentage record (.857)… led the team in minutes played… ended her career having started 57 consecutive games… led the OVC in assist-to-turnover ratio and 3-point percentage (.405)… led the team in 3-pointers (53), becoming just the fourth player in program history to make 50-plus triples… made 37 consecutive free throws between Nov. 14 and Feb. 14… was 6-of-6 from the field and tied the EIU single-game 3-point percentage record with a 5-of-5 showing from behind the arc in home win against Southeast Missouri… made five 3-pointers and scored a season-high 19 points in big home win against Conference USA champion SMU… played a career-high 48 minutes in the OVC Tournament title game, which was decided in double-OT… averaged 11.7 points per game and was 7-o-f-14 from 3-point land in the OVC Tournament… scored the final four points of the win at Tennessee Tech, making a layup with 1:14 remaining that broke at 46-46 tie… connected on a 3-pointer in seven straight games from Jan. 17 to Feb. 7… recorded a season-high eight assists in a game twice… scored 15 points in the loss at Illinois State and OVC Tournament win against Tennessee State… was 14-of-27 from 3-point land during the eight-game win streak… shot 53 percent from the field, including 13-of-26 from 3-point land, in February… made 31 of her 53 3-pointers at home… OVC Rankings: first in 3-point percentage and assist-to-turnover ratio, second in assists, seventh in minutes per game, and 11th in 3-pointers per game… Top 50 National Rankings: 19th in assist-to-turnover ratio… EIU Single-Season Rankings: fourth in 3-pointers made, fifth in 3-pointers goals attempted and 10th in assists… EIU All-Time Rankings: fifth in 3-pointers made and 3-pointers attempted.
 
JUNIOR (2007-08): OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... After missing all of the 2006-07 season with a knee injury, Edwards played in all 32 games and started 29 times… beginning with the OVC opener, started the final 24 games of the season… led the team in minutes played, logging at least 200 more minutes than every other Panther… played 30-plus minutes 25 times… matched her freshman-year total for 3-pointers made, which was an EIU first-year player record at the time… was among the league-leaders in assist-to-turnover ratio all season and ranked third in the conference in OVC play… made the game-tying 3-pointer at the end of regulation in the overtime win at Eastern Kentucky, finishing the contest with 14 points and five assists… came up big in the OVC Tournament win against Tennessee State, scoring 12 points thanks to a perfect 4-of-4 showing from 3-point land… she made three of those four treys down the stretch, blowing open a tie game with 12 minutes left… also made four 3-pointers and scored a season-high 17 points in the home loss to UT Martin… averaged 8.7 points per game in the OVC Tournament, ranking second on the team… had at least one assist in 31 of the 32 games… recorded a season-high eight assists in the win against Murray State, teaming with Rachel Galligan to shred the Racers with a number of well executed pick-and-roll plays… played 40-plus minutes in each of the back-to-back double overtime games on the Alabama road trip, connecting on a trio of 3-pointers and scoring in double-figures in both games… her 46 minutes played at Jax State were a career-high and a season-high by a Panther… made at least one 3-pointer in seven straight games during one stretch of the season… scored 10 points in the win at TSU thanks to a pair of big first-half 3-pointers… enjoyed an all-around good game in the overtime win against Tennessee Tech, scoring nine points to go along with five rebounds and a season-high four steals… scored seven key points in both OVC Tournament games played in Nashville… OVC Rankings: 11th in minutes.
 
SOPHOMORE (2006-07): OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... Redshirted after injuring a knee in the preseason win over Missouri-St. Louis... she has elected to forgo her extra year of eligibility and finish her career in 2009.
 
FRESHMAN (2005-06): Three-time OVC Freshman of the Week (Jan. 2, Jan. 9 & Jan. 16), winning the award three weeks in a row… Edwards started every game, one of three Panthers to do so… one of just a handful of freshmen nationally to start every game… first Panther to win OVC Freshman of the Week honor three times… broke EIU freshman records for 3-pointers made (36, later broken) and free throw percentage (.852)… led the OVC in assists per game in conference play (4.35 apg)… made the first 24 free throw attempts of her collegiate career… scored in double-figures 14 times, including 20-plus on three occasions… scored a season-high 24 points in the home win over Eastern Kentucky… connected on 8-of-10 from the field and 6-of-8 from 3-point land en route to scoring a team-high 22 points in the home finale vs. Samford… scored in double-figures in a team-high eight straight games during one stretch… nearly posted a double-double with nine points and a season-high 10 assists in the home win over Tennessee State… was 9-of-9 at the free throw line in loss at Austin Peay, coming up just one make and attempt shy of the EIU percentage record… Top 10 OVC rankings: fourth in assists, fifth in free throw percentage and 10th in steals.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: Edwards was a four-year letter-winner for coach Derril Kipp… also lettered twice in volleyball and track… three-time all-state honoree: first team in 2005, third team in 2004 and fourth team in 2003… two-time all-conference selection… finished her career as the all-time leading scorer in Maine West history… also holds single-season and game scoring records… team captain… also earned all-conference honors in volleyball as a team captain… National Honor Society… Phi Sigma Pi national honor society member… senior physical education leader.

PERSONAL: Her No. 1 sports highlight was breaking multiple Maine West scoring records… her parents have been a major influence on her sports career because “they have always pushed me to do my best and have always supported me”… most admires coach Kipp because “he has so much knowledge and potential for the game, and he taught me everything I know”… her cousin Jill Heavey played volleyball at Clemson… enjoys playing sports and listening to music… daughter of Bill and Ginny EdwardsMAJOR: Family & Consumer Sciences with a Teacher’s Certification.
