Eastern Illinois University Athletics

Jehan Ayap joined the Eastern Illinois University Sports Medicine staff as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in November of 2016 and served as the athletic trainer for the Panther women’s basketball and women’s soccer teams for the first part of her career.  She moved over to coverage of EIU softball in place of women's basketball starting with the 2025-26 academic year.   She was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer in May of 2023.  Ayap brings more than ten years of clinical field experience in prevention, evaluation, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries at the NCAA Division I level.

Ayap came to Eastern Illinois University following four years as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Southeastern Louisiana University. While at Southeastern she worked as the athletic trainer and provided medical coverage for the women’s soccer team for the last 3 years and men’s basketball the year before that. During her time in those roles she also oversaw medical coverage for summer camps. She also assisted with athletic training coverage for women’s volleyball, and softball.

Prior to joining the staff at Southeastern, Ayap worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Murray State University from 2010-12 working with the women’s soccer program for the two years and women’s tennis during the 2012 season.

Ayap earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2010 before earning her Master’s degree in Human Development and Leadership from Murray State in August of 2012. She had played four years of NCAA Division I collegiate soccer for Southeastern from 2005-2008 where she helped win a Southland Conference regular season title in 2006. When she returned to Southeastern as a full-time staff Assistant Athletic Trainer, she helped the women’s soccer program to two Southland Conference Tournament Championship titles in 2013 and 2015.

She is a NATA BOC Certified Athletic Trainer and is American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED certified. Ayap holds a license to practice by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and Illinois State Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
