Biography


2011-12:  Finished her Panther career on a high note as she led all EIU golfers at the end-of-season league meet as she carded a 12th place finish... saw action in all nine contests as she earned an 83.3 stroke average behind 21 rounds of play, to finish third best on the squad... also finished tied for 19th at the Butler Florida Invite... finished with an all-time stroke average of 84.9 behind 66.5 rounds of action, with her lowest round of 75 coming about in her senior season.

2010-11:  Had a fine junior campaign... played in every event and ended up tying classmate Emily Calhoon with a team-high 81.5 stroke average... had five Top 20 individual finishes... her third place at the SIU Edwardsville Fall event was a season-high... while she also ended up in eighth place at both the Chicago State Fall Classic and Bulldog Florida Invite... her 11-over-par 155 at Chicago State marked her top score of the season... ended up in 28th place at the end-of-season OVC championship.

2009-10:  Fell a bit as a sophomore behind her 87.8 season stroke average... competed in seven meets... finished in the Top 20 via her 11th place tie at the St. John’s Spring Fling.

2008-09: Played in seven meets as a true freshman, including the OVC Tournament... notched a season average mark of 85.3... finished in 22nd place in her two final events of the year, first at Loyola and again at the league meet.

HS: Played four years of golf, basketball and track for coach Kevin Behl at St. Anthony HS in nearby Effingham... earned four athletic letters in each sport... individually, she placed fourth and sixth at IHSA state golf tourney her junior and senior years, respectively... earned All-Area and All-Conference basketball honors... participated at the state track meet three straight years, first as a sophomore... part of the foursome to set school records in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays... four year Honor Roll award winner.

PERSONAL: A speech pathology major... daughter of Greg & Kim Koester... No. 1 sports moments was when her HS golf team won the IHSA state championship her senior year... her brother, Matthew, played golf at Parkland College... while her other brother, Michael, is also a member of the Panther men's golf squad.

OFF THE LINKS WITH KATHRYN:  Kath’ or ‘Kat’ choose to come to EIU “because coach Moncel taught me lessons for four years and it just seemed like the right school for me”... her labradoodle is named ‘Bella’... her advice for a younger athlete is to “practice hard and don’t ever give up."
