Biography

EIU (2007-08): Her fifth place tie at the UMKC Classic was her top season finish... competed in nine of ten events on the season... finished with a 82.8 stroke average, a four-stroke improvement from last season... also tied for 12th at Butler Intercollegiate.... 

EIU (2006-07): Played in six of nine events... completed 15 rounds behind 1,301 strokes to average 87.3... finished third for EIU twice... best finish was a tie for 16th at the Butler Invite.... 

EIU (2005-06): Played in all five spring matches competing in 12 rounds... had a stroke average of 89.3... best finish was a sixth place tie at the Fairfield Invitational in Myrtle Beach, S.C.... low round of the season was an 83 at the OVC championships.... 

HS: Attended Rochester HS, earning four varsity letters in golf... named RHS ‘Rookie of the Year’ as a freshman... earned team MVP honors as a sophomore, junior and senior... owns school record for lowest round in a match (36)... qualified for sectionals all four seasons, advancing to IHSA State Tournament twice... also member of track & field squad... National Honor Society and Honor Roll member.... 

PERSONAL: Daughter of Ralph & Tina Anderson... an elementary education major... greatest sports moment was “finishing 19th at Illinois State Tournament as a junior”... her father has had the biggest influence on her sports career “because he has always believed in me and is always positive no matter how I may be playing”... her brother, Brian, played golf at Illinois State... ‘Rube’ chose to come to EIU “both for the golf and the school, since I’m an education major”... loves chowing on pizza, but dislikes vegetables... enjoyed taking Dr. Andrew White’s math class... name of her Jack Russell terrier is ‘Ricky’... her favorite quote is “you only live once”... enjoys watching movies, tv, hanging out with friends, and shopping... her personal goal following graduation is “to become a teacher”... her advice to a younger athlete is “have fun with it, but be aware of how much time it takes up”... currently driving a ‘02 Chevy Malibu.... 

COACH MONCEL SAYS: “Michelle is one of our seniors, so I’m expecting a lot out of her this year… she played really well last spring… her play went down a bit this past fall, but she has the ability to go low, so we expect big things in her final season.”
