Biography

2011:  Nabbed new career marks in nearly every statistical category as she followed up her fine freshman campaign with an outstanding sophomore season... played in all ten games... tied two other players with a season-high five runs over 20-yards in win at Illinois... set new bests in trys, assists, assisted tackles, points, and SAT, as she had three performances earn a listing in the single-game record books... improved her career numbers for points (195), trys (39), and runs over 20-yards (23) to now rank 11th, 7th, and 11th all-time, respectively.

2010: Earned the Freshman Award as well as the Co-Outstanding Offensive Player Award alongside teammate Lauren Doyle, following a standout first season as a Panther... playing in all eleven games as a true freshman, Hahne recorded at least one try in all but one contest, including a season-high four run-ins as EIU crushed instate foe Illinois... finished with three trys in six other contests and dished an assist three times... defensively, she notched six solo tackles in the Panthers’ tough loss at GVSU and four times stole a ball at the tackle... also a member of the Panther women’s track & field squad, competing in both the throwing and sprint events.

HS: While at Plainfield North HS, Cara was a two-event IHSA Class 3A state qualifier as a senior earning berths in both the 4x100 relay and discus throw... three-time conference and Bremen Invite champ... High Honor Roll and state scholar while also a member of the National Honor Society... also cheer team captain.

PERSONAL: Undecided on a major, Cara is the daughter of Bill & Lori Hahne... her mom has been her biggest influence, “because she is my No. 1 fan, cheering me on and pushing me to be the best I can.”

FUN STUFF: ‘Bear’ chose EIU “because it is a great campus and I love the people”... as a former cheerleader, her hidden talent is tumbling... names of her current pets are “Sassy, Chip & Dale”... enjoys eating ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gray... dislikes green beans, broccoli and salad... if she could bring anything from her hometown to EIU, it would be “an Olive Garden restaurant”... her advise to a younger athlete interested in rugby is “you will love it... it is a great adrenaline rush that challenges you and lets you get your anger out.”
