Biography
HIGH SCHOOL ... Yeley was a two-sport athlete at Pekin Community HS, earning three basketball letters and four in track & field... set conference marks in both the shot put and discus throw... which included prep records in outdoor shot put and both indoor shot and discus... she advanced to the IHSA state meet here at EIU in 2013 and 2014, placing 5th and 8th place, respectively, in the discus... member of the National Honor Society and All-State Academic Team.
PERSONAL ... Planning on majoring in engineering while at EIU... daughter of Randy & Marianne Rush... born on April 12... her No. 1 sports highlight "was placing fifth in the discus at the state track & field meet"... credits her mom for having the biggest influence on her athletic career, "because she has always supported me and encouraged me to work hard."
OFF THE PITCH WITH LEXIE ... 'Lex' chose EIU "because I liked the atmosphere and the academic program"... feels some of Eastern's advantages over other state schools include "the class sizes are smaller than most state schools and the campus is very nice"... naturally also enjoys track & field events... doesn't care to eat steak but loves to dine on cornbread casserole... she can't go anywhere without her contacts or glasses... her best vacation memory was "going to California with my best friend"... would love to meet actress/singer Lea Michele... her advice to a younger athlete would be "to never give up... good things come to those who work hard... anything can be accomplished with the right state of mind"... her goals while at EIU include "finishing the engineering program and to get my degree."
