Biography
2007: Ziemba played in 14 games and started twice, the Western Illinois and Eastern Kentucky contests… was the first member of EIU’s freshman class to score, netting the third goal in the home-opening win against Indiana State… also assisted on Kaitlin Sullivan’s goal against Tennessee Tech… played a season-high 63 minutes in the draw against Western Illinois… played at least 20 minutes in 12 of the 14 games in which she played… put both of her shots on goal in her collegiate debut, the season-opening win at Eastern Michigan.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ziemba was a four-year varsity letter-winner for coach Brian Papa… also a four-year varsity letter-winner in basketball and once in cross country… as an upperclassman she garnered numerous back-to-back honors in ‘06-07, including: defensive team MVP, First Team All-Area by the Joliet Herald and Star Newspapers, IHSSCA all-sectional, and all-Southwest Suburban Conference… as team captain in ‘07 also earned: team MVP honors, Daily Southtown First Team All-Area, Chicago Sun-Times "Top 15 Forwards" preseason list, and Chicago Tribune "Top 20 Players to Watch" preseason list… on the basketball court she was team captain as a senior and honorable mention all-area pick by the Joliet Herald and Daily Southtown… voted most athletic female by L-W East senior class of ’07… three-sport athlete award winner… L-W East was a four-time regional champ and reached the state finals of the IHSA playoffs in ’04 and ’06… four-year high honor roll student... member of the National Honor Society, Pi Sigma Pi (social studies honor society) and Mu Alpha Theta (math honor society)… Star Newspapers 2006 "Best and Brightest" honoree… also played for the Windy City Pride, Chicago Magic and Darien Dynamo club teams.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was making it to state finals twice during her high school career… her parents have been a major influence on her sports career because "they have always been there for me and helped me become the person I am today"… most admires coach Papa because "not only is he a great coach but has been a positive influence on my life both on and off the field"… her grandfather Joe was drafted by the Chicago Cardinals of the NFL… daughter of Joe and Carol Ziemba… MAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies.
