Biography
2008: Holcomb started all 18 games she played in… missed only the Purdue game, due to a red card suspension… key member of an EIU defense that posted three straight shutouts and a scoreless streak of 434 consecutive minutes late in the season… ranked second on the team in minutes (1,561), averaging 86 per game… led the team in minutes (729) in OVC play… went the distance on 10 occasions, including the final seven games of the year – a streak of 669 consecutive minutes… played a season-high 110 minutes in the scoreless draws against Northern Iowa and Austin Peay.
2007: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll...Holcomb played in nine games, including five OVC contests… played a season-high 29 minutes in the regular-season finale against Illinois State… also logged double-figure minutes in the wins over Eastern Kentucky (15) and Tennessee Tech (13).
HIGH SCHOOL: She was a four-year varsity letter-winner for coach Ron Rowden… also lettered four times in cross country and once in basketball… earned first team All-Southwestern Conference honors as a senior after taking home third team kudos her junior year… two-time team captain as an upperclassman… Belleville News-Democrat honorable mention all-area as a junior… garnered all-tournament team honors at the Fralish and Bi-State tourneys… was also a team captain and all-conference performer on the cross country squad… CHS athlete of the month… four-year honor roll student, National Honor Society, and Who’s Who Among American High School Students… graduated with Cum Laude honors… with her Metro United Soccer club team she was part of a number of tournament championships, including: the ’03 Best of the Midwest, ’04 Metro Fall Classic, ’04 Gateway Shootout, ’05 Elks Tournament… also was the runner-up at the ’04 CASL Shootout in North Carolina.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was traveling to North Carolina, Iowa and many other places to play soccer… her sister Lindsey, who was a four-year starter for EIU women’s soccer from 2002-05, has been a major influence on her sports career because “she’s successful, intelligent and inspiring, and she’s always there for advice”… her cousin Andy ran cross country at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point… daughter of Charles and Donna Holcomb… MAJOR: Biological Sciences.
