Biography
2014-15 ... In her lone season as a Panther freshman, she earned top a pair of school record marks in both the 100 (56.86) and 200-Back 2:03.82) events, as each record came about in the prelims of the Summit League meet... she earned 7th place finishes in each race at the A Finals... also swam opening legs in all five Panther relay units.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Multi-sport athlete for coach Jacob Ayers at Wheaton-Warrenville South HS... sports included swimming & diving, track and field, gymnastics and volleyball... earned Academic All-Conference and a state qualifier in both track and field and in swimming... set a school record in the 200-Free Relay... member of the National Honor Society and nabbed the 5.0 Award.
PERSONAL ... Clinical laboratory sciences major... daughter of Shawn & Sharon Smith... born on June 14... No. 1 sports highlight was "making state as a junior in the 50-Free"... credits her swim coach for having the biggest influence on her sports career, "because he has been my coach since I started swimming and he has never given up on me even when I wanted to give up on swimming."
OUT OF THE WATER WITH AMY ... Chose EIU, "because I liked the small town environment, the feel of the campus, and the swim team was also very welcoming"... still enjoys competing in track and field... driving a Mazda 6... enjoys dining on noodles, grapes, pretzels, and enchiladas... but dislikes anything really spicy... her favorite tv show is The Princess Diaries... her family own a Border Collie named 'Molly'... she can't go anywhere without her chapstick... her goals while at EIU include "having a successful swim career and to become involved in more than just swimming."
