Biography


2013-14 ... In her first and lone year in a Panther uniform, she competed in a pair of free events, three back and also the 200-IM... set season-bests at the end-of-season Summit League meet in four races.

HIGH SCHOOL ... Three-sport athlete -- in swimming, track and gymnastics -- for coaches Dan Witteveen and Lauren Zalon at Melrose Park HS... the four-time varsity winner was member of her squad that earned three sectional and five conference titles.

PERSONAL ... Plans to major in sports management... daughter of Pat & Aymee Scavone... born on May 24... No. 1 sports highlight was "although I had never swam before I was put onto the arsity team my freshman year"... credits Tess Frawley for having the biggest influence in her sports career, "because she always pushed me to do my best in practice and believed in me... even when I was having a hard time believing in myself."

OUT OF THE WATER WITH BRIANNA ...  'Bri' chose EIU "because one of my coaches went to Eastern and my friend, Megan, both made it seem like it was a great school to go to... and they were complete right cause the team is very close and supportive of each other"... drives a 2013 Hyundai Sonata... enjoys hanging out with friend and family and running track... loves snacking on pretzels but dislikes fish... favorite movie is The Dark Knight... her family own a Great Dane and Maltese pups... recently enjoyed Professor Chadd's class... since coming to EIU she has learned "that not everything comes easy and learning to live on your own was the hardest thing I had to do"... favorite building on campus is Lincoln Hall, while she can't go anywhere without her cellphone... her advice for a young athlete is "make the best of the four years... and work hard every day... practice each day like it is your last"... goals while at EIU are "to graduate in four years and to find a job within a year that relates to my major."
