Biography
2014-15 ... Swam in eight events as a senior... set four personal best times during the end-of-season Summit League meet... earned one of the top three season best marks in the 200-Back and 100-IM... also a member of both the 400 and 800-Free Relay units, swimming at either the second or third legs.
2013-14 ... Saw significant action by swimming in numerous freestyle and backstroke events as a junior... earned EIU Top 3 times in both the 1000-Free and 200-Back... also swam the first and second legs in the 800-Free Relay throughout the season.
2012-13 ... Finished another hectic season with eight different individual events... set new season best times in the 500-Free and 100/200-Back events at the end-of-season Summit League event.
2011-12 ... Had a very busy freshman campaign, swimming in every freestyle event, as well as in multiple backstroke races... set personal best times in the 50, 100 and 200-Back events at the end-of-season league meet... swam the third leg in the 800-Free Relay.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Swam for coach Ray VanHootegem at Galesburg HS… earned four letters as both a swimmer and a member of the track squad… two-time Western Big 6 Conference champ in the 500-Free and 200-Medley Relay as a senior… set a YMCA pool record in the 400-Free Relay her junior season… squad went undefeated four straight seasons while also earning league championship honors… named Western Big 6 Academic All-Conference in both swimming and track… member of the National Honor Society and a National Society of High School Scholars.
PERSONAL ... Majoring in elementary education… daughter of Eugene & Teresa Peck... credits her dad for having the biggest influence on her sports career, "because he is always there supporting me no matter what."
OUT OF THE WATER WITH NIKKI ... 'The Peckster' chose EIU “because Eastern has a very good education program and I love the campus”… currently driving a Jeep Cherokee... enjoys eating carrots, applesauce and cereal... her favorite building on campus is Booth Library... wishes she could bring her little brother to campus with her... recently enjoyed taking Professor McBride's math class ... her favorite quote is “life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away”... her advice to a younger swimmer is "to succeed, you must first believe that you can... stay positive and never give up."
