Biography


2011-12 ... Saw action in seven individual events, earning season-bests at the Summit League meet in the 50, 100, and 200-Back races... also a member of the 400-Free Relay squad that finished with the third fastest Panther time of the season, with her swimming the opening leg.

2010-11 ... Swam in six races… saw action in the 50, 100 and 200-Free… 100/200 Fly and 200-IM.

2009-10 ... Saw action in seven events, including four freestyle races as well as both the 100/200 Fly and 200-IM… earned the third fastest Panther time in the 200-Fly.

2008-09 ... As a freshman, set personal best times at Summit League meet, including new highs in the 200 and 400 IMs.

HIGH SCHOOL ... Earned four letters for coach Pat Egan at Stillman Valley HS... named team captain as a senior... qualified for state in the 200-Medley Relay, swimming the butterfly leg... set new schools records in the 200-IM, 400-Free Relay and 200-Medley Relay... member of the Honor Roll all four years... president of the National Honor Society her senior year.

PERSONAL ... Biology/pre-med major, with a minor in chemistry... daughter of Marc & Terry Bowen… born on May 5... No. 1 sports highlight was “being the first women’s swim team at Byron HS to win sectionals”… credits her parents for having the biggest influence in her sports career, “because at five years old they put me on the Streamwood Saves and I haven’t left the pool since.”

OUT OF THE WATER WITH TAMMY ... Chose to come to EIU “because of the small campus and the equal balance between swimming and athletics”… feels some of Eastern’s advantages over other schools include “an athletic department that is very dedicated to the success of their students both athletically and academically”… enjoys playing volleyball, biking and zumba… has a hidden talent of drawing and painting… drives a 2001 Ford Focus… enjoys dining on seafood, but dislikes green beans… favorite tv show is Grey’s Anatomy… family owns two dogs, Whiskey a Shaba inu and Dozer a Rottweiler… enjoyed taking a genetics class taught by Dr. Chesnut… can’t go anywhere without her keys and Panther card… her advice to a younger swimmer is “if you love the sport, don’t give up.”
