STREATOR, Ill. – Three former Eastern Illinois softball standouts assisted in raising money to replace and repair several area ball fields recently damaged by a tornado in the Streator area.
On Saturday, June 5, 2010, a late evening tornado blew through Streator, Illinois leaving a path of destruction to several other areas near I-80 in its wake, including damaging several ball fields utilized by area youth programs.
However, this past weekend (August 7), community members gathered for a co-ed, 12” slow-pitch alumni softball game in order to help raise money to replace the fields. Former Streator HS and Eastern Illinois Panther softball players Kari Hagerty and EI Club 'Hall of Fame' honorees Jennifer (Cherveny) Dick and Zam (Mogill) Hay each utilized their considerable playing skills to the event.
“Needless to say it was a ton of fun and a very successful event,” said Jen Dick. “I thought it was neat that all three of us got to play together.”
