Men's Track Ranked 11th In Final Regional Poll

Panthers fell to 57th in the nation

NEW ORLEANS – Eastern Illinois men's track closed out the regular season with the Panthers ranked 11th in the Midwest Region as the USTFCCCA released its final regular season rankings on Tuesday. EIU dropped to 57th in the national rankings as declarations for the upcoming NCAA West Regional will be made on Thursday afternoon.

The national rankings are based on projections of how athletes would fare at the NCAA Championships. EIU currently has just two athletes ranked nationally. Zye Boey continues to rank in two events as he is 13th in the 100m and 17th in the 200m. Mick Viken is currently 7th in the pole vault.

The Panthers compete in the Midwest Region which includes NCAA Division I schools from the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma and South Dakota.

The final Midwest Region rankings finished with Nebraska ranked first. Minnesota, Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas rounded out the top five schools. Wichita State led off the remaining ranked schools in the region at number six followed by Missouri, Illinois, Kansas State, Iowa State, Eastern Illinois, Tulsa, Oklahoma State, Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa.
