Jessica Wireman turned in one of the great individual performances in Eastern Illinois softball history during the season as she struck out 22 batters during a 1-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky on April 9 in Charleston.   The 22 K's set the EIU single game record for strike outs in a contest. 
 
Wireman went the distance finishing with the complete game 12-inning victory in what turned out to be a true pitchers dual.  EKU's pitching staff combined for 24 strike outs with Colonels starter Hayley Flynn striking out 23.   Those two totals ranked as the first and second highest strike out totals of the season in the NCAA.
 
Wireman would go on to win 19 games during the season earning first team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors.  She struck out 203 batters during the season which ranks fifth all-time on the EIU single season strike out list.
