Baldwin Sets School 6K Record For Cross Country

Panthers wrap up season at NCAA Midwest Regional

AMES, Iowa – Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country wrapped up the 2017 season on Friday competing at the NCAA Midwest Regional hosted by Iowa State University.  On a cold morning at the ISU Cross Country Course the EIU women placed 23rd while the Panther men placed 22nd.
 
The women were led by senior Maria Baldwin who placed 62nd in the 6K race setting the school record with a time of 21:21.  Ali Gutt also posted a career top five EIU 6K time as she finished in 72nd with a time of 21:29. 
 
On the men's side senior Chris Orlow placed 64th with a time of 30:21.32.   Marcus Skinner, Tyler Lay and Jaime Marcos just finished outside the top 100.  Skinner was 102nd with a 10K time of 30:54.88.  Lay was 106th with a time of 30:57.36.  Marcos was 109th with a time of 30:59.56.
 
Michael Mest, Joe Carter and Jose Aguilera rounded out the men's runners at the NCAA Midwest Regional.  Mest was EIU's final scorer runner finishing in 145th with a time of 31:36.30.  Carter was 162nd with a time of 32:07.69.  Aguilera was 173rd with a time of 32:32.77.
 
Grace Rowan, Kate Bushue and Caroline Collet were the other three scorer women's runners for EIU.  Rowan was 111th with a time of 21:53.  Bushue was 176th with a time of 22:36.  Collet was 187th with a time of 22:56.  
 
Maggie McPherson and Avani Flanagan were the final two EIU women's runners in the meet.  McPherson was 195th with a time of 23:06.  Flanagan was 198th with a time of 23:16.
 
Iowa State was the men's and women's team champion at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
