Mike Novotny from men's soccer and Taylor Smith from volleyball have been named the Back To Health EIU student-athletes of the week.

Novotny helped the Panther men's soccer team pick up its first Summit League win of the season with a 1-0 shutout against IUPUI. He made five saves with the biggest coming in the 72nd minute as he stopped a penalty kick. It was the second career shutout for the EIU goalkeeper. He was named the Summit League Defender of the Week.

Smith helped the EIU volleyball team knock off previously unbeaten Murray State in five sets as she earned her second straight OVC Newcomer of the Week honor. Smith had 27 assists and 19 digs in the win over the Racers. On Friday night she posted her first career triple-double with 18 kills, 20 assists and 14 digs.
