CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Eastern Illinois head softball coach Kim Schuette has announced dates for two upcoming Pitching and All-Skills Softball Clinics on November 8 and 15.

Eastern will host Pitching and All-Skills Clinic on Sun., Nov. 8 for girls grades 5 thru freshman in high school, followed by the same two Pitching and All-Skills Clinics on Sun., Nov. 15 for HS freshmen thru junior college ages.

“We work really hard in our camps and clinics,” said Schuette. “So we are very proud of them.”

Players will get the opportunity to learn first-hand from members of the current 2009-10 EIU Softball team and coaching staff. They will acquire the fundamental skills necessary to make them an all-around better player, and will work toward developing more advanced position-specific strategies and techniques. Players will receive one-on-one and small group instruction, while performing a variety of hands-on drills for both offense and defense.

The Grades 5 to HS Freshmen Pitching Clinic will include one knee drills, the perfect circle, developing speed, power, and a productive motion, spotting the fast ball, throwing the change up, and introduction to spinning the ball. While the HS Freshmen to JC Pitching Clinic will develop power and speed, including learning a productive motion, the fast ball, the change up, spinning the ball, the Curve and screw, and the rise and drop.

Clinic prices are as follows … Pitching Clinic ($40), All-Skills Clinic ($70), or BOTH the Pitching/All Skills Clinics ($90).  Time wise, the Pitching Clinic will be held from 9 to 11 am, with the All-Skills Clinic from Noon to 4 pm. Both will be held in EIU's Lantz Fieldhouse, or if weather allows, outside on the Panthers' own Williams Field.
