CHARLESTON, Ill. – After playing a role in 11 of his team's 19 goals this season, Alex Harrison of Eastern Illinois men's soccer has been selected as an NSCAA Third Team All-Midwest Region honoree.

Harrison scored two goals and assisted on nine others this fall. He was a Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree last month and led the league in assists per game.

This marks the fifth consecutive season that a Panther has been named All-Midwest Region. At least one EIU player was recognized in nine of the 10 years this decade, all but 2004.

The NSCAA's Midwest Region is comprised of teams that compete in Conference USA, Summit League and Missouri Valley. Of the 35 All-Midwest Region honorees this year, 15 played for one of the six MVC programs. Every Valley team had at least one player recognized. Drake and Evansville led the way with four picks each.

Harrison recorded a point in each of the first eight games of the season in which EIU scored, highlighted by a streak of four consecutive games with an assist. He helped setup all three goals in the victory at regular-season MVC champion Missouri State, recording only the second three-assist effort by a Panther in the program's Valley era (1996-present).

Harrison will enter 2010, his senior season, having recorded 15 goals and 20 assists in his career. Both totals rank him among the program leaders in the MVC years. Eastern has posted an 8-3-1 record when he has scored a goal during his career.
