Eastern Illinois plays its final home Saturday contest of the year against Southeast Missouri with the Panthers looking to remain in the upper half of the Ohio Valley Conference standings. EIU is currently in fourth place, a half-game behind UT Martin, and a half-game ahead of Murray State. The Panthers have posted a 5-1 home mark in OVC games and 8-3 overall record at Lantz Arena. Southeast Missouri is still looking for their first conference win of the season coming in at 0-12 and 3-20 overall.
EIU - SOUTHEAST MISSOURI SERIES
This will be the 39th meeting between Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri with the Panthers holding a slim 20-18 series edge. EIU won the earlier season meeting in Cape Girardeau, 83-63, as the Panthers had five players score in double figures led by Ousmane Cisse and Edin Suljic with 16 each. The teams have split the season series the last three seasons and SEMO has won four of the last five match-ups at Lantz Arena.
SCOUTING SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Despite not having a solid record to show for it, the Redhawks feature three top players who all rank in the top ten in scoring in the OVC. Kenard Moore is the leader at 17.1 ppg with Calvin Williams a dual threat at 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Jaycen Herring rounds out the three-headed scoring machine at 14.8 per game.
ZOOPERSTARS IN TOWN SATURDAY
EIU marketing and promotions will welcome the ZOOPERSTARS entertainment group to Lantz Arena this Saturday as they will preform at halftime of both the EIU men's and women's game along with select media time outs. The ZOOPERSTARS contain inflatable characters aptly named after sports icons such as Yao Flamingo (Yao Ming) and Dennis Frogman (Dennis Rodman).
