Futsal Clinic Flyers: Youth | High School-JUCO

CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois men's soccer is slated to once again host Futsal skills clinics at Lantz Fieldhouse, with the dates set for the final two Sundays of February.

The youth clinic, open to students in grades kindergarten through eighth, is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 21. Students kindergarten through fourth grade register at 1 p.m. and play from 1:15-2:30 p.m. Students fifth through eighth grade register at 2:30 p.m. and play from 2:45-4 p.m. All registration will take place at the Fieldhouse.

 

The cost to attend the youth clinic is only $10. Attendees are asked to bring indoor athletic shoes and a soccer ball, as well as a pen for post-clinic autographs from EIU players.

The second Futsal clinic, open to high school sophomores through junior college students, is set for Sunday, Feb. 28 from noon to 4 p.m. The cost to attend is $45, which includes a camp T-shirt. Registration begins at 11:45 a.m. Space is limited for the advanced clinic and attendees are encouraged to signup early by filling out and mailing in a Futsal clinic flyer from EIUpanthers.com.

Futsal is the latest indoor training option popularized by the Brazilians. The program promotes better ball control skills and ground passing. Overall skills and decision making are also emphasized.

This marks the fourth year in a row that EIU has hosted Futsal clinics.

The EIU coaching staff – Adam Howarth and Dino Raso – will conduct the clinic, with current EIU players also set to participate.
