Evansville Fires Away For 3-0 Win Over EIU

Panthers drop crucial MVC match on the road

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Evansville fired 31 shots against two Eastern Illinois goalkeepers on Friday evening with three finding the back of the net as the Purple Aces picked up a 3-0 Missouri Valley Conference win over the Panthers.

EIU dropped to 4-10-1 on the season, 1-4-1 in the MVC as they fell behind Evansville by two points in a race to secure the final tournament berth in the upcoming MVC Tournament. The match was broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel.

Evansville got on the board in the 33rd minute as Tyler Kincaid connected from the 15 yards on a shot in the middle that found its way in by the far post. The Purple Aces were called for a foul after the play which sent EIU starting goalkeeper Sean Molony to the bench.

Molony played 33 minutes with three saves. Tyler Kelley entered and played the remaining 57 minutes making three saves.

Evansville had 16 first half shots while EIU was limited to just four first half shots. The Panthers would finish the match with 11 total shots but only two on goal. Ian McCausland and Jerry Maddi had the shots on goal for EIU.

Kincaid added his second goal of the night for UE in the 59th minute on a header following a scramble in front of the goal following a Purple Aces corner.

Tom Irvin finished off the Evansville scoring in the 66th minute with a chip in off a cross by Blake Schneider.

Evansville improved to 6-9-1, 2-4 in the MVC. Robert Randant picked up the shut out in goal for UE.

EIU returns to action Wednesday at Valparaiso with the final regular-season Missouri Valley Conference match taking place on Nov. 6 against Drake at Lakeside Field.
