CHARLESTON, Ill. -- Saturday's Eastern Illinois-Evansville softball doubleheader, which had just recently been added to the spring slate, has been cancelled due to extended rain showers in the southern Indiana region.

The contests may possibly be rescheduled.

Eastern will now wait until this coming mid-week to return to the field, playing two games at Western Kentucky on Tuesday (March 16) and at Chattanooga on Thursday (March 18), prior to continuing south for the Panthers' Ohio Valley Conference opener at league favorite Jacksonville State next weekend.
