NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Eastern Illinois softball's weekend series at Tennessee State has been cancelled due to continued heavy rain and severe weather in the volunteer state.

A Saturday doubleheader and Sunday single game was originally scheduled but was modified to a twinbill on Sunday.  Unfortunately, flooding and tornado warnings would wash out the entire weekend slate.

In fact, only one Ohio Valley Conference game was able to be played on Saturday, with league-leader UTM winning an extra-inning contest at Southeast Missouri following lengthy rain delays.

EIU, currently in fourth place in the OVC, will now take a 21-23 overall and 11-8 conference mark to next weekend, when the Panthers host softball newcomer Murray State in a three-game home finale series.
