CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois guard Tyler Laser has been selected as one of ten collegiate basketball players that will travel to Europe for a series of games as part of the Global Sports Academy. The European Tour will take place Aug. 12-20 and play five games with three in Belgium and two in Germany. The team will be coached by Illinois assistant Jay Price.

Laser was a first team All-OVC selection last season as a junior where he led the Panthers in scoring averaging 13.9 points per game. Laser became the first EIU player to earn first team All-OVC honors since Henry Domercant in 2003. His 13.9 points per game ranked 8th in the OVC and he scored 20 or more points in seven contests. Laser ended the season with 973 career points and 150 career 3-pointers. EIU finished the season with a 19-12 record advancing to the semifinals of the OVC Tournament.

The team will feature a total of ten players including Brandon Paul and Tyler Griffey of Illinois, D.J. Byrd of Purdue, Ryan Evans of Wisconsin, Dyricus Simms-Edwards of Bradley, Gene Teague of Southern Illinois, Adam Leonard of Missouri State and Seth VanDeest and Ben Simons both of Drake. In addition to competition, numerous sightseeing tours of Belgium, Germany and London are scheduled.

Coach Price will be providing updates and statistics throughout the trip via his Twitter account. Follow @CoachJayPrice to receive the latest news from Europe.
