WICHITA, Kan. – Former Eastern Illinois men's soccer player LeBaron Hollimon was named the head coach of the Major Indoor Soccer League's Wichita Wings.
The Wings are re-launching this fall after being inactive since 2001. Hollimon played for the Wings from 1992-99.
The MISL represents the top level of professional indoor soccer in North America and currently consists of seven franchises for the 2011-12 season, with additional announcements expected in the coming weeks. The league roster includes existing MISL franchises in Baltimore, Milwaukee, Kansas City and Wichita. They will be joined in the MISL by a trio of first-year USL indoor franchises in Norfolk, Rochester and Syracuse.
Hollimon's professional playing career started in 1991 as a 2nd round draft pick of the Tulsa Ambush. Hollimon joined the Wings the following season where he helped lead the Wings to six playoff appearances during his seven-year career with the club.
The Wichita, Kan., native played for the Panthers from 1988-91. Hollimon's best season came during the 1991 season when he was named to the All-Mid Continent Conference First Team after leading EIU in goals and assists. He also earned NSCAA All-Midwest Region Second Team honors in 1991.
