SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Eastern Illinois men's and women's cross country both finished in 18th place on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Midwest Regional in Springfield, Mo.
Senior
Britney Whitehead led the Panther women placing 37th with a 6K time of 21:46.45. The time was just off Whitehead's personal best in the distance set earlier this year at the Bradley Classic.
Bryce Basting and
Pablo Ramirez both turned in top 50 finishes for the EIU men. Basting was 37th with a time of 31:15.10. Ramirez was 42nd with a time of 31:23.95. Basting's time ties for the 13th fastest 10K in school history while Ramirez's mark ranks 18th in school history.
Senior
Olivia Klaus finished up her EIU career placing 65th with a time of 22:10.61. Freshman
Christina Gastfield posted a time of 22:30.60 to finish in 82nd place.
Erika Ramos was 106th at 22:53.27 and
Stephanie Peisker rounded out the top five EIU women's runners in 126th at 23:16.14.
Kelsey Hardimon and
Emily Pedziwiatr were the other two EIU women's runners in the event. Hardimon was 150th at 23:42.98 and Pedziwiatr was 153rd at 23:46.73.
The EIU men had only five competitors at the Regional event. Joining Basting and Ramirez as the five member squad were
Matt Black,
Victor Delatorre and
Max Gassmann. Black placed 108th at 33:01.48. Delatorre was 169th at 34:47.10 and Gassmann was 181st at 35:47.65.
