CHARLESTON, Ill. – Former Eastern Illinois baseball player Ryan Dineen has signed a professional contract with the Houston Astros after being drafted by the organization in the 25^th round of Major League Baseball's First-Year Players Draft. He is currently playing with the Tri-City ValleyCats (A – Short Season).
 
In two games with the ValleyCats, Dineen has posted a .286 batting average (2-for-7) with two runs. He went 2-for-4 with a run in his minor league debut on June 18, helping Tri-City defeat the Vermont Lake Monsters 10-2 in the team's NY-Penn League season opener.
 
Dineen and the ValleyCats conclude their season-opening series against Vermont Lake on June 20-21.
