Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Eastern Illinois volleyball fell at Ohio Valley Conference foe Tennessee State in straight sets (25-16, 25-15, 25-18) on Sunday afternoon, as the eighth straight loss moves the Panthers to 3-13 overall and 0-4 in league play.

Junior Reynae Hutchinson led EIU with nine kills, while the outside hitter also nabbed two blocks.  Unfortunately, no other Panther managed more than four kills as EIU was out-hit .417 to .071.

TSU (8-8/3-1) was led behind Rachel Ambroch and Lindsay Hornsby with 14 and 12 kills and hit a blistering .778 and .706, respectively, as both had zero attack errors.

Sophomore Kelsey Brooke's eight digs and junior Stephanie Arnold's four blocks paced the Eastern defense, while freshman Stephanie Wallace accounted for the two lone EIU aces.

The match, which lasted only an hour and five minutes, featured just eight ties and four lead changes as EIU also trailed the Tigers in kills (44-to-26), assists (41-to-26), aces (three-to-two), digs (36-to-30), blocks (nine-to-five), and points (56.0-to-33.0).

Despite the loss, the Panthers still hold a large series lead of 24-7 over TSU.  Unfortunately, today's matchup will be the lone regular-season meeting as TSU competes in the east division of the OVC, with Eastern and Tigers only meeting once during the conference slate.

EIU finishes up road play with a 7 p.m. match at instate foe Illinois-Chicago this coming Wednesday (Oct. 3).  The Flames are currently 8-10 overall after recently dropping consecutive road Horizon League contests this weekend.
