MURRAY, Ky. – The Panther women's soccer team improved to 5-1 in Ohio Valley Conference action on Sunday afternoon, defeating Murray State, 2-1, at Cutchin Field. EIU moved back into first place of the conference standings with the victory.

Lauren Hoppensteadt scored her first goal of the season in the 24th minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. The Oswego, Ill., native beat a Racer defender in the midfield and found the back of the net from 20 yards out.

The Racers (4-8-1, 1-5 OVC) responded only six minutes later when Julie Mooney knotted the match at one with her team-leading seventh goal of the year.

In the 60th minute, Meagan Radloff scored her team-leading fifth goal of the season to give the Panthers a 2-1 advantage off a pass from Madison Carter. Radloff has scored the game-winning goal in each of the Panthers last three conference victories.

Murray State took 16 more shots (29-13) than EIU and committed one more foul (10-9). The Racers also held an 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hannah Miller led four Panthers who took multiple shots in the match with three (two on goal). Mooney led the Racers with nine shots (six on goal).

Cortney Jerzy (5-4) earned the win in goal for EIU, making 13 saves while allowing one goal. Savannah Haberman (4-8-1) took the loss for Murray State as she surrendered two goals and made three saves.
