CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Panther women's soccer team remained in first place of the Ohio Valley Conference standings following a 2-1 defeat of Jacksonville State on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field. EIU improves to 6-1 in OVC play.

Meagan Radloff gave the Panthers an early 1-0 lead in the sixth minute, scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season. The West Chicago, Ill., native found the back of the net from six yards out on the left off a ball played from teammate Lauren Hoppensteadt.

Chris Reed scored her first career goal in the 23rd minute to give EIU a 2-0 lead, beating a JSU defender and hitting a shot from 15 yards out on the left. Lindsey Jackson cut the Gamecocks deficit to one in the 28th minute with a goal from 15 yards out on the right.

The Panthers posted 10 more shots (21-11) than the Gamecocks and took six more corner kicks (6-0). JSU committed four more fouls (9-5) than EIU in the contest.

Reed led a group of six Panthers who had multiple shots with five (two on goal). Radloff added four shots (two on goal) while Molly Hawkins and Hannah Miller both added three shots. Jackie Rush led JSU with five shots.

Cortney Jerzy (6-4) earned the win in goal for EIU as the sophomore goalkeeper made one save and allowed one goal. Cate Eden (0-2-1) took the loss for JSU, allowing two goals while making five saves.
