Women’s Soccer Falls at UT Martin

Panthers return to action at SEMO on Sunday, Oct. 27

MARTIN, Tenn. – The Panther women's soccer team dropped at 2-0 contest at UT Martin on Friday night at Skyhawk Field. EIU moved to 6-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference standings with the loss.

The Skyhawks (9-7-1, 7-1 OVC) took an early 1-0 lead in the eighth minute on a made penalty kick by Alyssa Curtis, her fourth goal of the season. The penalty kick was the first allowed by the Panthers this year.

UT Martin made the score 2-0 in the 47th minute on Dominika Conc's third goal off the season off a pass from Aoife Lennon. Conc led the Skyhawks with five shots (two on goal) in the match.

Karlee Deacon had two shots (one on goal) to pace the Panther offense while Briana Hickman and Meagan Radloff both added two shots. UT Martin outshot EIU, 27-9, including a 12-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Panthers committed five more fouls (10-5) than the Skyhawks and took eight fewer corner kicks (10-2).

Cortney Jerzy (6-5) took the loss in goal for EIU, allowing two goals while making 10 saves. Mariah Klenke (7-7-1) made four saves in goal and posted her sixth shutout of the season.

EIU returns to action at Southeast Missouri on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.
