CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois women's basketball coach
Debbie Black has added a fourth recruit to her initial signing class as Kandace Tate signed a national letter of intent to play for the Panthers.
Tate is in her second year playing at Homewood-Flossmoor High School and her first season playing for head coach Anthony Smith. Tate was a starter on the Homewood-Flossmoor volleyball team helping that team advance to the IHSA Class 4A Regional this year. The 6'3" athlete plays both the forward and center position.
"Kandace is a two-sport athlete that has shown her athletic ability in both volleyball and basketball," said Black on her fourth signee this fall. "She has continued to develop her game and has great potential on the basketball court."
Tate joins a class that already includes guards Grace Lennox and Mariah Madison along with forward Morgan Martin.
The Panthers return to action on Thursday hosting Loyola-Chicago. The game will feature a match-up of two former WNBA All-Stars as the respective head coaches.
Debbie Black serves as the head coach at EIU while Sheryl Swoopes is in her first season as the head coach at Loyola. Tip off is 7 p.m. in Lantz Arena.
