MARTIN, Tenn. – The No. 5 seed Eastern Illinois women's soccer team was defeated, 2-1, by No. 4 seed SIUE in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament at Skyhawk Field.
Trailing 2-0 with four minutes remaining in the match,
Bianca Navejas scored her first goal of the season from six yards out in front of the goal off a cross from the right by
Madison Carter. The comeback effort fell short in the closing minutes as the Panthers concluded the year with a 6-14 overall record.
Tory Pitts gave the Cougars (13-4-3) an early lead in the eighth minute, scoring from five yards out off a rebounded shot from teammate Samantha Jones. She added her second goal of the match in the 60
th minute off a free kick from just outside the top of the 18-yard box.
The Cougars took 22 more shots (26-4) than EIU and had five more corner kicks (7-2). The Panthers committed four more fouls (11-7) in the loss.

Emily Wolf all had a shot for the Panthers. Pitts paced the SIUE offense with five shots on goal.
Cortney Jerzy (6-8) took the loss in goal for EIU, making 13 saves and allowing two goals. Jennifer Pelley (13-4-3) earned the win for SIUE as she made one save and surrendered one goal.
