GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Panther women's soccer team concluded Green Bay Phoenix Tournament action on Sunday afternoon, falling to the host Phoenix, 2-0. EIU drops to 0-4 on the year.
Green Bay (2-1-1) broke open a scoreless match in the 63
rd minute when Abby Juzwik scored her first goal of the season. Jenna Harrington made the score 2-0 only five minutes later on a header off a free kick from Hekla Palmadottir.
The Phoenix took 16 more shots (19-3) than EIU and took five more corner kicks (5-0). EIU also committed two more fouls in the match (15-13).
Paige DeThorne led the Panthers with one shot on goal while Heidi Hartmann paced Green Bay with six shots (three on goal).
Cortney Jerzy (0-2) took the loss in goal for EIU, making seven saves on the day. Katy Pilarzyk made one save in goal for Green Bay, playing the first 62 minutes of the match while teammate Nastacia Behle (1-1-0) posted the win as she logged the final 28 minutes.
Senior defender
Caitlin Greene was tabbed to the all-tournament team at the conclusion of the tournament.
The Panthers return to action on Sept. 6 at Ball State.
