Bulldogs Upend Panthers at Lakeside Field

EIU returns to action at Valparaiso on Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.

CHARLESTON, Ill. – The Panther women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest to the Drake Bulldogs on Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field. EIU falls to 0-8 on the season.
 
Ashlie Stokes gave the Bulldogs (1-6-2) a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute on a shot from the top of the 18-yard box, her first goal of the season. She scored only four minutes later on a header off a ball played by Kylie DeHaven to give Drake a 2-0 lead. In the 39th minute, the Panthers nearly cut their deficit to one on a goal by Caitlin Green, but EIU was called offsides to negate the goal.  
 
The Bulldogs sealed the victory in the 88th minute with a goal by Kayla Armstrong.
 
The Panthers were outshot by 14 (20-6) in the loss while committing seven more fouls (12-5) than the Bulldogs. Both squads had five corner kicks in the contest.
 
Meagan Radloff led the Panthers with two shots while Armstrong paced Drake with seven shots (five on goal).
 
Kylie Morgan (0-3) took the loss in goal for the Panthers, allowing three goals and making five saves. Andrea Swanson (1-6-2) earned the win for Drake as the junior goalkeeper had two saves while posting her first shutout of the year.
 
The Panthers return to action in their non-conference finale at Valparaiso on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.
