Panthers play final 2014 matches at EKU and Morehead State

REED FINDS THE NET FOR EIU: Junior Chris Reed took over the team goal scoring lead on Sunday as she knocked home the Panthers lone goal with a header.  It was Reed's fifth goal of the season and sixth of her career.   Reed is one of four players competing for the team goal scoring title heading into the final weekend.   Meagan Radloff and Madison Carter both have four goals this season while Hannah Miller has registered three.
 
SCORING RACE DOWN TO FINAL WEEKEND:  In addition to the team goals scored title coming down to the final weekend, so too is the overall points scored title.   Meagan Radloff has scored 12 points this year with four goals and four assists.   Chris Reed has 11 points with five goals and one assist.   Madison Carter has nine points with four goals and one assist.  Hannah Miller has eight points with three goals and two assists.   Senior Allie Lakie is currently tied with Radloff for the team lead in assists with four.
 
PANTHERS FALL IN OVERTIME: Eastern Illinois played its third overtime match of the season on Sunday against UT Martin as the Panthers lost 2-1 in the final minute of the first overtime.   It marked the first time that EIU has lost a match in overtime since the 2012 season when they lost 2-1 in double overtime against Northern Iowa, the third match of that season.   Last season EIU played one overtime match picking up a 1-0 win over Belmont.  This season EIU has ties with Green Bay and Tennessee Tech.
 
SENIOR CLASS EXITS: Eastern Illinois will have six players appearing in their final matches in a Panthers uniforms this weekend in Kentucky.   Meagan Radloff, Madison Carter, Lauren Hoppensteadt, Allie Lakie, Ellen Campbell and Lauren Rusk will all finish their EIU careers.
 
SERIES HISTORY: Eastern Illinois (2-13-2, 1-6-1 OVC) will play its final two matches of the season this weekend with both contests on the road.   The Panthers play at Eastern Kentucky (3-13-1, 1-6-1 OVC) on Friday afternoon.   Both teams have picked up one win in OVC play so far this season.   This will be the 10th meeting between EIU and EKU with the Panthers leading the all-time series 6-3.  EIU wraps up its regular season on Sunday afternoon at Morehead State (8-5-5, 3-3-2 OVC).  This will be the 21st meeting between the two schools with EIU holding a 12-5-3 all-time series lead.

20th SEASON:  Eastern Illinois is playing its 20th season of NCAA Intercollegiate soccer this season.  The program has an all-time record of 182-166-37 over the past 19 years including four NCAA College Cup Tournament appearances and five OVC Tournament titles.  EIU's first intercollegiate game was Sept. 2, 1995 with a 2-1 loss at Toledo.  The program's first win would come in game three of that inaugural season with a 4-0 home win over Iowa State.
 
HEAD COACH JASON CHERRY: Eastern Illinois head coach Jason Cherry is in his second season as the program's head coach and his third season overall at EIU. Cherry was named the Ohio Valley Conference Coach of the Year last season as the Panthers posted a 6-4 record in conference play winning four straight conference games to open the season.  EIU would finish the year at 6-14 overall.  Cherry's overall record is 8-27-2 in two seasons at EIU.
