Eastern Illinois at Tennessee Tech

November 1, 2014 • 1:30 p.m. • TV: OVC Digital NetworkTHE GAMEEastern Illinois won its second straight Ohio Valley Conference game with a 28-3 win over Tennessee State for the Panthers homecoming contest. The win improved EIU to 3-1 in the OVC as they are tied with Eastern Kentucky in the loss column with one loss each. Both schools are chasing undefeated Jacksonville State. EKU will host JSU on Nov. 8 while the Panthers travel to Jacksonville, Ala., on Nov. 15 setting up what could be an exciting OVC title race in November.
Eastern Illinois will travel to Tennessee Tech this weekend looking for a second straight OVC road win. EIU won on the road at Southeast Missouri on Oct. 18 ending a three-game road swing that spanned four weeks of the season. EIU has won its last two games by a 80-16 margin with the Panthers forcing eight turnovers while committing zero. Six of those eight turnovers have been on interceptions including an interception return for touchdown by
Anthony Goodman against Tennessee State.
Tennessee Tech enters the game following a 49-3 road loss at Jacksonville State. That game was on the heals of the Golden Eagles fourth quarter come-from-behind win over previously unbeaten Eastern Kentucky. TTU is 3-0 at home this season with OVC wins over Murray State and EKU. They are 0-5 on the road.
THE SERIESThis will be 21st meeting between Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech. The Panthers hold a 14-6 lead in the all-time series including wins each of the last two years. EIU won 31-24 during its last visit to Cookeville in 2012 and won 56-21 last season in Charleston. EIU has picked up a road win in the series in seven of its nine trips to Tennessee Tech since the two schools began playing as OVC members. TTU holds a pair of wins in the series from the mid-1970's.
