Eastern Illinois extended its current winning streak to seven games on Saturday afternoon as the Panthers beat Belmont to improve to 10-6 overall, 4-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference.  The seven wins are the second longest win streak by the school during its NCAA Division I history.  EIU's longest Division I win streak was eight games in 2009-10.  Eastern Kentucky enters as the defending OVC Champion having been to three NCAA Tournaments since 2005.  EKU is 10-5 overall, 2-0 in the OVC.

VISER OVC NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
LeTrell Viser was named the Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week after the Panthers picked up a pair of wins at Tennessee State and over Belmont at home.  Viser averaged 10.5 points per game shooting 40 percent from 3-point range for the week.  Viser added five steals as he has nine straight games with at least one steal ranking 13th in the league with 1.4 steals per game.

4-0 IN THE OVC
Eastern Illinois improved to 4-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference with a win over Belmont on Saturday.  It marks the third time in school history that the Panthers have started a conference season with a 4-0 record.  The last time was the 1985-86 season when the Panthers played as a member of the Mid-Continent Conference.  EIU would finish that season 3rd in the league with an 8-6 record.  EIU also opened the 1982-83 Mid-Continent Conference season 4-0, finishing the year 8-4, second in the league race.
