Eastern Illinois won its fourth straight game as the Panthers opened the calendar year with a 61-59 win over Tennessee Tech.  EIU improved to 7-6 on the year and 1-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference.  It marks the longest winning streak for the program since February 2010 when EIU won eight straight to close out the year.  Jacksonville State comes into the game at 7-8 overall and 0-1 in the OVC.  The Gamecocks lost their fourth straight game falling at SIU Edwardsville on Thursday afternoon.

OLIVIER SCORES CAREER HIGH 
Chris Olivier scored a career high 22 points in the Panthers win over Tennessee Tech on Thursday.  It marked the third time in his career Olivier has scored 20 or more points.  He was 8-of-11 from the field as the junior forward is now eighth in the OVC in field goal percentage hitting 56.3 percent for the season.  In his last three games Olivier is shooting 70 percent from the field while averaging 16.3 points per game.

PANTHER DEFENSE STEPS UP
Eastern Illinois held Tennessee Tech to 59 points on Thursday as the Panthers have now held five of their last seven opponents below 60 points.  EIU leads the OVC in scoring defense allowing just 60.3 points per game, a total which ranks 57th in the NCAA.  EIU also leads the OVC in field goal percentage defense as opponents are shooting 40.5 percent for the season.  EIU held TTU to 37 percent shooting on Thursday.
