Eastern Illinois continues its season opening swing in the Hoosier State as the Panthers visit Ball State on Monday night.  EIU opened the season at No. 15 Indiana on Friday in the toughest season opening game in school history.  Eastern Illinois has started the season with a 1-1 record in two of head coach Jay Spoonhour's three seasons and in three of the last four years.  This marks the first time since the 2006-07 season that EIU has opened with its first two games on the road.   That year EIU opened with three games at the Iowa State Tournament.

ONE OF THE NEWEST ROSTERS IN THE NCAA
Eastern Illinois opened the season with one of the newest rosters in the NCAA.  The Panthers are tied for seventh in the nation with the most newcomers on the roster entering year.  EIU has nine new faces with six freshmen, two junior college transfers and one four-year transfer.  Portland State, Tennessee State and Bradley lead the nation with 11 newcomers on their rosters for this season.

EIU MAKES THIRD POSTSEASON NCAA DIVISION I APPEARANCE
Eastern Illinois played in the 2015 CollegeInsiders.com Tournament to end the season as the Panthers lost to eventual champion Evansville in the second round.  It was EIU's first postseason appearance since the 2001 NCAA Tournament and third ever as an NCAA Division I school.  EIU beat Oakland in the opening round to post the school's first NCAA Division I postseason victory.

PANTHERS SIGN KANSAS ALL-STATE GUARD
Eastern Illinois men's basketball signed one player during the early signing period last Wednesday with Kansas All-State guard Logan Koch.  Koch averaged 14.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.1 assists last year at Mill Valley HS in Shawnee, Kan.
