GAME 23Eastern Illinois takes a break from Ohio Valley Conference action hosting NAIA member Baker University on Tuesday evening. Â The Panthers snapped a three-game OVC losing skid on Saturday with a 57-54 win over SIU Edwardsville improving to 13-9 overall, 7-3 in the OVC. Â Baker University comes into the game with a 7-14 record having lost nine straight games. Â
ANDERSON LEADS PANTHERS IN SCORINGTrae Anderson scored 20 points on Saturday against SIU Edwardsville including three points in the final 26 seconds. Â Anderson now leads the Panthers in scoring at 12.6 points per game. Â In Ohio Valley Conference play Anderson has increased that average to 15 points per game which ranks 10th in conference games only. Â Anderson has 13 double figure scoring games this season including four straight. Â His season high is 22 points against Austin Peay. Â In the last four games Anderson had increased his 3-point production hitting 5-of-9.
JOHNSTON CHASING EIU FRESHMAN ASSISTS RECORDCornell Johnston passed out four assists during Saturday's win over SIU Edwardsville. Â Johnston now has 92 assists on the season as he ranks fifth in the OVC in assists per game at 4.2. Â In OVC games only Johnston ranks fourth in assists per game at 4.3 Â The EIU freshman assist record is 115 set by Michael Robinson during the 2005-06 when Robinson was named the OVC Freshman of the Year. Â EIU has had 28 players with 100 or more assists in a season, the last was Jeremy Granger in 2010 with 105 assists.
