CHARLESTON, Ill. – Eastern Illinois set a Lantz Arena record for fewest points allowed in a game as the Panthers beat Baker University (Kansas) on Tuesday night, 59-32, in a non-conference game.  The previous record was 40 points set on three occasions, most recently by Morehead State in 2011.

EIU improved to 14-9 overall.  The Panthers resume Ohio Valley Conference play on Saturday with a 6 p.m. game at Southeast Missouri.  Baker stands at 7-14 on the season.

Daniel Young gave Baker the first lead of the game at 2-0 and his lay-up with 17 minutes to go in the first half tied the game at 4-4.  Trae Anderson and LeTrell Viser answered with baskets for EIU and the Panthers never trailed again.

Dylan Chatman's 3-pointer at 10:23 put EIU up 13-8 and the Wildcats never got closer than five points the remainder of the game.  EIU led 29-14 at the half following a jumper by Anthony Johnson with 1:23 to play in the half.

EIU opened the second half with an 8-3 run as Cornell Johnston sank a 3-pointer to cap the run.  Johnston was the lone player in the game to score in double figures finishing with 11 points and seven assists.

The Panthers defense held Baker to 25 percent shooting for the game on 12-of-47 from the floor.  The Wildcats finished even in the rebounding battle with EIU with EJ Carter pulling down ten rebounds to go with a team high eight points.

All 11 players in uniform for the Panthers scored during the game.  Viser was the Panthers top rebounder finishing with seven.  EIU turned the ball over nine times giving them three straight games with less than ten turnovers.
