MACOMB, Ill. – Western Illinois scored with just over four minutes remaining in double overtime on Friday afternoon as they beat visiting Eastern Illinois 3-2. Skyler Jessop found the bottom right corner of the net in the 105th minute off an assist from Madeline Edwards.
Both teams scored early in the contest with Western Illinois scoring 2:26 into the match and EIU countering with a goal at the 6:30 mark.
Western Illinois broke away early as Meagan Wilson found the net on an assist from Tyra Markey.
Molly Hawkins answered for EIU with the first of her two goals on the afternoon. The senior evened the game on an assist from
Kathleen MacKinnon.
Hawkins would put EIU up 2-1 as she scored unassisted twenty seconds into the second half.
WIU would knot the game at 2-2 in the 73rd minute as Ashley Kuhlmann scored with the assist credited to Gina Scaffidi and Michaela Cody.

Maddie Lyon made eight saves with her counterpart Victoria Kappel making two saves for the Leathernecks.
Hawkins had three of the Panthers four shots on goal with MacKinnon picking up the other offensive shot.
EIU falls to 0-2-1 on the season and will play at Northern Iowa on Sunday afternoon. WIU improved to 1-1.
