CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri scored two goals in the first six minutes on Sunday afternoon as the Redhawks blanked Eastern Illinois, 5-0, in Ohio Valley Conference action.
Natasha Minor had the two early goals for SEMO with her first goal 4:29 into the match. She added another goal one minute later as SEMO improved to 6-3-2, 1-0-1 in the OVC.
EIU was limited to just two shots on goal on the afternoon with
Bianca Navejas and
Madi Fisher the two Panthers with solid shots. EIU drops to 2-8-1, 0-2 in the OVC.
Minor's two goals were assisted by Paige Blankenheim and Angie Mann.
SEMO tacked on a third goal four minutes into the second half as Mann finished off a cross from Blankenheim.
The Redhawks fourth goal was an own goal by EIU in the 73rd minute. Maddie Karstens closed out the scoring with a goal in the 75th minute.
Kindra Lierz played 79 minutes making both saves during the shutout. Alyssa Sickler closed out the match in net for SEMO.
Maddie Lyon went the distance for EIU as SEMO had 12 shots on goal.
