CAPLIN SCORES FOR EIU:  Sophomore Carrie Caplin scored Eastern Illinois lone goal last weekend as the Panthers opened Ohio Valley Conference play.  Caplin knocked home a free kick in the 80th minute on Friday night during the Panthers loss at UT Martin.  It was the first career goal for the defender.  It was the third point of Caplin's career as she had an assist earlier this season in the win over IPFW.

CAREER CHASE:  Seniors Hannah Miller and Molly Hawkins have led the Panthers offense through the non-conference portion of the season.  Entering the second week of the OVC season Hawkins leads the OVC in both goals (7) and points (16) as she ranks 36th in the NCAA in goals scored.  Hawkins has eight career goals and 19 career points.  Miller had ten career goals entering the second week of the OVC schedule which ranks ninth among active OVC players.  Miller has 120 career shots which is the most among any player active in the OVC.  This season Miller has three goals including two goals in the recent win over Chicago State.

BACK AT HOME: Eastern Illinois will be back at home on Sunday afternoon after opening Ohio Valley Conference play with three straight road matches.  EIU played at UT Martin and Southeast Missouri last weekend and will face Belmont on the road Friday.  Following the three road matches, the schedule turns in EIU's favor as the Panthers play four straight home matches over three weeks.  EIU opens with Jacksonville State this Sunday.  Next weekend EIU hosts Tennessee Tech and Morehead State as part of the Family Weekend on the EIU campus.  On Friday, Oct. 16 Eastern Kentucky comes to Charleston to wrap up the home stand.

LOW SHOT TOTALS: Eastern Illinois was limited to six shots on goals during its two Ohio Valley Conference opening matches.  On Friday evening at UT Martin Carrie Caplin scored with her shot on goal.   Molly Hawkins, Kathleen MacKinnon and Emily Wolf all added shots on goal against UTM.  On Sunday at Southeast Missouri Bianca Navejas and Madi Fisher registered EIU's two shots on goal.

NATIONAL LEADERS: Freshman goalkeeper Maddie Lyon enters the weekend ranked among the nation's leaders in saves.  Lyon is seventh in the nation with 73 total saves which leads the OVC.  Lyon has started nine of the Panthers 11 matches this season.

SERIES RECORD: Eastern Illinois and Belmont will be meeting for the sixth time on Friday afternoon with the Panthers holding a 3-2 all-time series lead.  Belmont won the 2014 match between the two schools with a 3-1 victory in Charleston.  This will be the 14th meeting between EIU and Jacksonville State.  The Panthers hold an 8-4-1 all-time series lead.  JSU won last year's match in Alabama, 3-1.

HEAD COACH:  Jason Cherry is in his third season as the Panthers head coach.  Cherry was named the OVC Coach of the Year following his first season in 2013 after EIU posted a 6-4 conference record.  Cherry is a 2011 graduate of Western Illinois and served as an assistant coach at EIU for one season before taking over the head coach duties.
