RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky scored with just over 30 seconds remaining in the first half and then increased the offensive attack in the second half as they rolled to a 4-0 win over Eastern Illinois on Friday afternoon.
EKU improved to 11-4 overall, 6-2 in the OVC. EIU fell to 5-11, 2-6 in the OVC. The Panthers will play at Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
Cassie Smith scored the first EKU goal at the 44:23 mark of the first half on an assist from Tara Claus.
The Colonels then tacked on three additional goals in a seven minute span to put the game out of reach. Mikayla Brillon scored in the 77th minute. Kayla Childs scored in the 80th minute and Claus found the back of the net in the 84th minute.
EIU ended the match with four total shots compared to 24 by EKU.
Angela Corcoran had the lone shot on goal for the Panthers.
